The flight away

I bring my year’s story to a close with the rightful death of an annoying Christmas ornament. While I am very hesitant when it comes to the death penalty, I think that capital punishment should be hastily applied to people that go overboard with their Christmas lawn decorations. In my years I’ve seen everything from Santa on a John Deere tractor to Thomas the Tank Engine, but little matches our neighbors choice:

Yes my friends: a giant inflatable Santa Claus recently took up residence next door. I plead for vengeance for the eyesore it caused. Fortunately, vengeance was hastily wrecked, when I got up the other day and observed that dear old St. Nick had been STRUCK DOWN BY THE POWERS OF GOD.

While well tested against the horrors of the Fall semester, my sanity might have still have taken the turn for the worse this semester had I not been lucky enough to be with Liz in the past two weeks. She has been the best birthday/Christmas present I could ever have received, and the source of happiness at I time in my life that I thought I’d been too busy to be happy. I believe I’ll find myself counting the days until I get back from the UK and see her again.

Oh, didn’t I mention it? Tomorrow, instead of celebrating Christmas, my parents and I are getting on a plane and flying over to the UK, so we can spend a week in our house in Beverley. We did the present-opening thing today (and my DVD collection significantly expanded). I shall be back the following Sunday, so please, enjoy your Christmas and your New Years… even though the new year will come 5 hours earlier for me!

Last night was most entertaining: a large helping of 9 Deaths of the Ninja, with the company of Liz and many of my friends from high school.
