Here we go

I sent an e-mail to St. Antony's College accepting their offer to be a member of their college while I'm studying for (known as 'reading for' over there) my MSc in Economics for Development. I then sent an e-mail to the Graduate Studies Office at Oxford telling them I was accepting and that written confirmation would be following shortly.

I've only received 3/9 decisions so far (and one waiting list), but in light of rejection from Brown and a "we'll think about it from LSE" there's an extremely low probability anything will come along that will top Oxford. If something came out of the blue, I'm sure I could weasel out of it, but Oxford wanted to know by next week and parental worry that I'd miss the offer spurred a reply.

So, with the exception of something major, it looks like I'm going to Oxford next semester.

Something far less interesting but still intriguing:

The other day, I noticed that all the postcards and newspaper clippings that were taped to my bedroom door had been taken down and placed on my dresser in my room. Now, I assumed that this was just some sort of mean joke played on me by one of my friends, but for some reason the door looked cleaner than usual, in a way that puzzled me.

I asked Matt about it, for I figured he would have been there for the destruction of my decorated door, and he claimed not to know anything about it, but did seem to remember that he had smelled paint one day the previous week. Upon close examination of my door and a comparison with his door, we deduced that the door had been re-painted. So apparently the maintenance guys had seen it fit to come in while we weren't there, and perform a lightning surgical strike paint op on my door, and only my door. Very strange indeed.
