Happy Thanksgiving, to whom may wish it.

I went to go see Chevelle last night at the House of Blues. They were opening for Stone Sour (that band that lead singer of Slipknot Corey Taylor had formed). Sinch was the opening band... and they weren't that great. The most interesting thing about them was a guy prancing aroung the stage with what looked like a complicated keyboard but actually was a light and video machine (they had a video going in the background the whole time).

Chevelle was impressive... those three guys really can get into their music. Unfortunately the sound guy needs to be executed, because you could barely hear Pete's vocals, and the guitar was too low too. If I didn't know the songs before hand, I would have found them hard to follow.

Stone Sour was suprisingly good. I didn't have great expectations with these guys, but Corey Taylor can really lead a crowd (he likes to beat his chest with a microphone a lot, an act I found truly awesome and so I called out for him to do it, again and again and again). Most of the songs were pretty heavy, and it seems like everyone and their dog decided to crowdsurf. I have mixed views on crowdsurfing. While people seem to enjoy doing it, they really do ruin the experience for people in the front, who have to spend half the concert worrying about being kicked or landed on by some jerkoff who's thrashing about on the crowd. Some of the same people were crowdsurfing again and again and again. I think after being caught twice doing it, they should be removed from the concert.

At one point some bastard landed on me and knocked me straight down under the crowd. Being on the crowd is quite scary, as you really can't use your hands to push yourself back up, because someone will quickly stomp them to hell. I was waiting for someone to help me up, but the others were too busy dealing with the crowdsurfing guy. After yelling, "Shit! shit! shit! SHIT!" countless times, I was finally pulled up by some huge guy. A nearby girl, thinking I was the crowdsurfer (she had probably been kicked by him) slugged me in the chest. You have to love these people.

So finally, after Corey Taylor was convinced the whole world loved him, the concert ended. I went to my car, got the covers of my Chevelle albums and a camera, and went back behind the place so I could meet them. Unfortunately, the Chevelle bus/van had already left.... this really pissed me off, because I came to see them.

Overall it was a good concert though.
