My mother's response to the same e-mail:

I am ashamed of being an American right now.
I am disgusted at the arrogant, ethnocentric, inhumane, immoral,
illegal, and violent stance of the US administration and all its supporters who
attempt to camouflage their own greed for supremacy, money, and oil, by
blaming others for their own mistaken decisions and fabricating
situations in order to kill human beings.

I am sickened by those who accuse the advocates of legal and
non-violent ways of resolving conflicts as being non-patriotic and unsupportive of
the poor troops who have been sent to the slaughter by an ignorant and evil
administration that just happens to be smarter than the Iraqis at
disguising its true motives, i.e. in the guise of being a liberating, religious
crusader.

Like the president of Iraq, we also allow our weakest and poorest
citizens to suffer and die by imposing limitations on health care, housing,
birth control, healthy school lunches, jobs, and other resources. We too are
ignoring the Geneva Convention by our treatment of prisoners in Cuba.
And America shares the guilt of erecting elaborate, expensive, buildings in
the midst of shacks in our towns and cities.

This scathing and ignorant criticism of other countries serves no
purpose and has to stop. We are ALL human beings no matter what our
nationality, race, gender or beliefs. Let us start by building on this basic
premise.

Did I mention my mom kicks ass too?
