The Cindex loses a cat...

I've written and mastered a new Caustic Cindex song! Enjoy!

My ego was thoroughly boosted the other day when I found out that this online Electronica station called Synerdata, has a song of mine listed in their "Secret Hidden Underground Electronica Archive!"

I'm in a heap of trouble at the moment. For the past week, I've been taking care of my neighbor's three cats and dog for a little bit of money. The dog is friendly enough, but the three small black cats are rather skittish. Before she left, the owner said, "You probably won't even see the cats the whole time." I managed to find and make friends with two, but the third always eluded me.

"These are INDOOR cats," the note she left me said, and I saw how obvious it was when I noticed that the cats were declawed. I was careful with the doors, which had a tendency to open if you didn't put some weight on them when you pushed them shut. Alas, on Thursday, I turned back from feeding Stella, the dog, to find that the front door was wide open.

I quickly shut it, and felt things would be ok. The two cats I had come in contact with had never made a move to go out any open doors as I was passing through, so most likely none of them had made a move to go out. I left.

I returned tonight to let Stella out in the backyard for a bit. As I followed her out, I saw the black eyes of the third cat staring back at me, from the middle of the back yard. "Holy shit," I thought, "that must be the third cat.... and it's outside. I'm royally fucked."

"I'll get the little bugger," I thought, as I circled around the tree is was crouched behind, so if it ran, it would be trapped by the backyard fence. I moved really slow and made lots of "here kitty-kitty" motions, but unfortunately she would have none of that, for she darted away, and went right up the side of the fence and disappeared into darkness.

I went nuts. These people put their responsibility in me, and somehow their damn cat had gotten out. Luckily, mom calmed me down and brought over two of our animal traps (which we use to catch strays when we find them a home, and for trapping possum). We've stocked them full of food, so hopefully the cat will come back tonight and get caught. She'd better, because the owner comes home Sunday evening.

Hopefully I'll catch her tomorrow morning, because at noon I'm going KAYAKING with my friends Liz and Steven!
