A shot in the dark

Because Arthur, Bryan, and Joey's live in a large house, we decided to play hide-and-go-seek there after eating at a Mexican restaurant. After a few games, we decided to play hunter vs zombie, which I made up rules to on the fly.

Here is how the game works: You need to have at least 3 zombies for every hunter. Zombies hide in the pitch black house, and then by turning off the last light, signal to the hunters that it is time to enter. The hunters, packing any nerf guns they can carry, and a small, dim, flashlight, enter the house after ringing the doorbell.

Zombies can move as fast as they want, but if they are shot once by a hunter, then they are dead. If a hunter is touched by both of a zombie's hands, then they too, after a 5 second delay, become zombies. The hunters are trying to clear the house of zombies and vice versa. It was a very kick-ass game, as the hunter party was always very careful and nervous. Here are some of the best parts:

First game
Joey and I made our way into the darkened house. We swept around, discovering a zombie (Mike Poole) behind a couch and dispatching him with easy. We made our way into a small hallway linking 3 doors. I looked into one of the rooms, seeing that the closet most likely contained a zombie, so I leaped inside. Sure enough, a zombie (Kyle) lurched out from inside the closet, but as I was firing at him, another one (Matt) came out from behind the door! Joey tried to take him down, but his cold, dead hands were around my ankle. Joey didn't last much longer.

Second game
Arthur, Mike Poole, and Kimmie were the hunters. Yours truly was a zombie, hiding behind a shower curtain in the downstairs bathroom. The hunters finally made their way to my room. Arthur was a foot away from the curtain when I tried to grab him, but he pulled back. Luckily I was safe from his fire, so he continued to try and get the curtain pulled back to get a shot at me. I saw his nerf gun with duct-tape attached flashlight poke around the side of the curtain, so I grabbed it. I reached for him with my other hand just to find another gun pointing at me. *Blam blam* I was one dead zombie.

After only a few more skirmishes, Mike was the only hunter left. He made his way to the top of the stairs, and while dispatching some zombies from afar, suffered a terribly swift attack from Chris Shelley, who almost knocked him down the stairs.

Third game
Bryan, Erin, and Harry were the hunters. Kyle and I hid in opposite closets on the ground floor. When my closet was opened, I groaned and lurched out, only to fall in a hail of nerf darts. Kyle followed and was downed as well. Chris was also dispatched, and the three of us sat down to watch the carnage. As the three hunters searched the downstairs room, the occasional flashlight would illuminate the living room. Bit by bit, Kyle and I noticed that 5 zombies were creeping into the room from the upstairs. Each brief flicker of light brought them a little closer. Zombie Joey stood on a table hugging the wall, just out of sight.

One of the zombies rushed them from behind, and managed to dispatch Erin and Bryan. In the confusion, Harry got turned around, and zombie Kimmie hid in the closet behind him. After searching the rooms, Harry walked back out into the living room. Joey tried to grab his left gun, Mike jumped out from behind a couch, and as Harry backed up, firing wildly, he was caught and devoured by Kimmie, from behind.
